Some researchers claim, red onions may help prevent heart disease. But in reality this type of onion, is often underestimated than white varieties.
They have found that one of the types of vegetables (cooked common in the Mediterranean and India) can help get rid of bad cholesterol, causes heart attacks and strokes.
This time the research done by giving your intake of red onion juice on a number of hamsters (a squirrel) that were previously all hamsters were fed with high cholesterol levels.
After eight weeks, they found that levels of bad cholesterol (LDL) in hamsters-hamsters, had declined to 20 percent, with no reduction in good cholesterol (HDL).
Zhen Yu Chen, in charge of research conducted at the Chinese Univesity of Hong Kong, said that although more in-depth research on onions, little is known how garlic interacts with human genes and proteins in the cholesterol metabolism of the body, but our research was conducted to identify interactions in the enzyme onions -enzyme in an effort to explore the underlying mechanisms of cholesterol reduction.
"This study is the first time examined the interaction of red onion with biological function. The results of this study support the claim that eating onions regularly, may reduce coronary heart disease, "said the researchers.
Although white onions much more popular in Britain, but the red has been used widely in India, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. These types of onions, much sweeter than white onions and are often eaten raw to salads.

Onion has long been known to have many health benefits including preventing cancer, heart disease, cough and fever. Several countries in the world who consume onions proved a lower risk of esophageal cancer.
For example, in Georgia, United States, because at least people who consume this Vadelia sweet onion, many of them are diagnosed with stomach cancer.
By contrast, in China, where people mostly eat onions and garlic than anywhere else in the world, the risk of stomach cancer in the country 40 percent lower.
