Panic during an exam situation may trigger the release of stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline. Both these hormones are able to change the mechanism of action diyakni hippocampus, part of the brain that regulate memory and ability to learn something.
Changes in the mechanism of epigenetic modification called it creates its chain Deoxyribo Nuceic Acid (DNA) in the hippocampus as re-programmed. If is often difficult to remember or understand something, then everything can seem easier when you're panicking.
"We often experience, bitter memories in tough times sometimes more lasting than great memories," said Professor Hans Reul, neurologists from the University of Bristol, as quoted from the Telegraph, on Monday (02/05/2011).
In a study in the journal Experimental Neurology, Professor Reul said the stress factors experienced by a person causes the bad memories more memorable. The same mechanism also occurs during a panic, for example, when studying all night before the exam.

In addition, the mechanism of epigenetic modification appears only once in a while and will not be effective if every moment always panic. The more often deal with stress, the brain will adapt so that over time the ability to remember will not be affected again.
