Brief of STDs (Sexually Transmitted Disease)

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) or sometimes called sexually transmitted infections (STIs) is a disease that spreads through sexual intercourse. Lay people more often called venereal diseases. STDs are transmitted through exchange of body fluids or in contact with the lesions of disease. Other than through sexual contact, STDs can also be transmitted through sharing needles and from mother to child before, during or after childbirth.

Type

Some types of sexually transmitted diseases are most common:

1. Chlamydia. Chlamydial infection is one of the most common STDs. Chlamydia is a spherical bacterium. Many people infected with chlamydia have no symptoms so it is not aware of it. This increases the risk of spread to a partner and develop chronic pelvic inflammation. If symptoms occur, Chlamydia can be characterized by discharge from the penis / vagina, itching in the genitals, and pain during urination and sex. Chlamydia can be treated with antibiotics.
2. Gonorrhea (GO). Gonorrhea is a STD caused by bacteria. These bacteria infect not only the sex organs, but also the throat or rectum, depending on sexual practices are implemented. Gonorrhoea may occur without symptoms. If any, symptoms are very similar to Chlamydia. Many people with gonorrhea are also infected with chlamydia. 3. Herpes genitalis. Genital herpes is usually caused by herpes simplex virus (HSV) Type II. Herpes lesions found either on the outside and in the genitals, around the anus and oral cavity. 4. HIV / AIDS. AIDS is the most dangerous STD caused by infection with HIV (human immunodeficiency virus). The virus is present in all body fluids, mainly concentrated in semen and blood. HIV transmission occurs through contact with body fluids containing the virus. Infection with HIV / AIDS can not be cured until now, but early diagnosis is important. 5. Genital warts. Genital warts are caused by human papilloma virus (HPV). Warts are usually present in the penis or vulva and can also occur around the anus or oral cavity. 6. Syphilis (lion king). Syphilis is caused by the bacterium Treponema pallidum. After initial infection, the bacteria spread through the bloodstream throughout the body, causing skin rashes, fever, fatigue and hair loss. Syphilis can be treated with antibiotics.
7. Hepatitis. Hepatitis B, C, D and E can be transmitted through sexual intercourse, but the most common are hepatitis B and D. Hepatitis virus attacks the liver and can cause cirrhosis in the long term. Although there is no cure for the already infected, hepatitis B vaccine available to prevent hepatitis B and D.

Tips for you

1. STDs can be prevented only 100% with no sexual intercourse and any contact of body fluids. Not changing sexual partners and using condoms consistently can reduce the risk significantly.
2. Keep your personal hygiene to reduce the risk of infection. Wash the outer genital area with soap and water were pH neutral. Avoid using strong antiseptic soap or the like in your genital area.
